The Military pass is for current members of the US Armed Forces and their dependents or veterans who has served in the US Armed Forces, including the National Guard and Reserves. Gold Star Families are next of kin of a member of the US Armed Forces who lost his or her life in a “qualifying situation,” such as a war, an international terrorist attack, or a military operation outside of the United States while serving with the US Armed Forces. Eligibility requirements are in section 3.2 of Department of Defense Instruction 1348.36. It provides entrance or access to pass owner and accompanying passengers in a single, private, non-commercial vehicle at Federal operated recreation sites across the country. It may also provide 50 percent discount on some amenity fees charged for facilities and services such as camping, swimming, boat launch, and specialized interpretive services. But generally, does NOT cover or reduce special recreation permit fees or fees charged by concessioners. Photo identification may be required to verify ownership.
